  1. I would like to compare mind mapping with project-based learning. Both of these topics usually involve thinking of the central idea in visual ways. Mind maps are an actual visual representation while project-based learning will need to include a good visual representation in multiple parts of the project such as mind maps. They both deal with organizational aspects so that learning occurs around a central idea.

  2. In PBL, students spend a significant amount of time on their specific project, and Michael said their learning is really in depth. I think that asking the "big questions" like in essential questions requires students to do higher-level thinking because they have to look inside themselves and look at the facts to develop an answer that satisfies them, because there is no technically "right" answer. This also leads to in-depth learning.

  3. I think that Understanding by Design and Mind Mapping can go hand in hand. To get the main points sometimes it's important to see it as a whole and Mind Mapping I think is a great way to take the one big idea and separate it out into the smaller bits of information that create the whole.

  4. Understanding by design and project based learning are similar. Project based learning and UbD both use the concept of authenticity where students are learning and focuses on real-life situations or real world applications. Both are learner centered and both begin with the end in mind. Furthermore, both focus on transfer of learning.
